More about this package

Heli Biking is the ultimate in mountain biking adventure experiences. You will access remote trails with technical descents and ridgeline riding. This is an unforgettable trip for confident intermediate and advanced riders only.

  • DAY 1

    Helicopter transfer Hobart to Queenstown.

A 60 minute scenic flight to begin your West Coast adventure over the stunning scenery of the South West National Park, alongside Frenchman’s Cap and over the Franklin River.

Meet your Into The Wild Guide in Mt Owen MTB Network, Queenstown, for bike set up and preparation.

Heli Bike North Owen Peak, three lifts.

Take in the 360 degree views from the summit of North Owen Peak before making your descent down The Long Spur or North Owen Descent. The bare and rocky surface is scarred from years of mining, allowing for a truly unique experience with views of the trail ahead to the Linda valley floor.

Afternoon guided ride on Waterfall with road-based shuttle.

Overnight Queenstown with a visit to a local’s favourite, Moonscape Wine Bar.

    DAY 2

Helicopter transfer Queenstown to Silver City MTB Network, Zeehan.

Heli Bike “Stormsdown” at Silver City, three lifts, the most remote area of the network

From the summit of Galena Peak, you’ll descend the remote ridgeline trail Stormsdown with incredible 360 degree views from the Southern Ocean, Cradle Mountain, Barn Bluff and Macquarie Heads Strahan to the kilometres of single trail below. Not for the faint hearted, this adventure trail offers a challenging technical ridgeline descent featuring rocks, slabs and multiple line choices.

Meet the helicopter at the bottom of the descent for a second and third lift back to the top, then continue your ride on Silver Lining before your flow fix on Oonah Hill descent. Or, bypass Silver Lining with a heli lift out of the network. You decide!

Helicopter transfer Zeehan to Queenstown. A 15 minute scenic flight, taking in the day’s backdrop and birds eye view of Zeehan and Queenstown.

Overnight Queenstown with dinner and a movie at Paragon Theatre.

    DAY 3

    Helicopter transfer Queenstown to Hobart.

Say goodbye to the wild West Coast of Tasmania with one final look at this remote area’s stunning scenery. A 60 minute scenic flight returns you to Tasmania’s capital, Hobart.

  • It’s the West Coast of Tasmania, so pack for all seasons. Our guides will always have a rain jacket rolled up in their camel pack.

We always recommend wearing all the gear: Full face helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, gloves, MTB shoes.

Please make sure your bike is in good mechanical condition. We will be accessing remote trails.

Your bike and riding gear must to be clean. Even if your bike doesn’t appear dirty from your last ride, it still requires a quick hose down to ensure we don’t transfer any foreign seeds/weeds into the area. Due to our means of transport, hitchhiking seeds run a real risk of being spread far and wide.

    Suggested pack list:

    • Water bladder with 2-3 litre capacity in backpack/camelpack.

    • Basic spares: tubes, chain links, multi tool.
