Red Bull Hardline Tasmania

17–27 February 2024 (event 23–24 February)

This one’s a little out of left field and very different from any other tour we have done to date.

When the news broke that Red Bull Hardline was going to be leaving Wales and gracing the shores of Tasmania at Maydena for the first time, we ran around like little kids on Christmas Day! But, then it dawned on us: the first thing we always think about when we know someone is coming to Tassie is, “Who’s going to pick them up from the airport?”.

A phone call with Simon French (Maydena Bike Park Owner & Manager) and we were taking calls from Red Bull.

We burnt the candle at both ends with 72 hours of Hobart Airport transfers into the city and some sightseeing thrown in for the athletes and their teams. The phrase “herding cats” was thrown around a lot.

Sightseeing included Kunanyi/Mt Wellington summit lookout under a cracking bluebird sky, followed up with Bonorong Wildlife Park to see some unique creatures only found in Tasmania, and dinner and drinks at The Hanging Garden.

Once all athletes had arrived in Hobart we orchestrated our biggest transfer for the week out to Maydena Bike Park with 11 athletes, luggage, and 20 bikes in the trailer. You could say we had Hardline in the van.

The days leading up to the event saw us at the beck and call of Red Bull, doing random airport pick-ups, drop-offs, and general freight service.

We enjoyed seeing some of the riders complete the course on Saturday, but time was also spent ironing out athlete and team movements and departures for Sunday and Monday from the comfort of the Athlete’s Tent. Yes, it was bloody hard to get work done with so many legends sitting next to us, but we managed!

We finally got our heads down and some much-needed rest before the bedlam of moving the whole show back to the airport over the following two days, each a 3-hour return trip.

We came away from the week with many stories, and lessons learned, and Red Bull contracting us for all logistical support for the 2025 & 2026 Red Bull Hardline events in Maydena. We can’t wait for next year!
